About Us
Preschool Area 2 in Solna Municipality currently consists of seven preschools: Kullen, Juvelen, Udden, Lyckoklövern, Fjorden, Thor, and Rudviken, as well as three open preschools Månen, Solen, and Mittpunkten.
Collaboration occurs both within each preschool as well as between the preschools, and the driving force is always to do the best for our shared children. We meet in various forums to drive pedagogical development forward.
We are now looking for a childcare worker with experience working with children with GSD (glycogen storage disease).
What does the job entail?
You will be part of a team where you together plan, implement, and follow up on the preschool's education and teaching. You will have an extended assignment and responsibility for a child with GSD. It also includes documenting relevant events and communicating with guardians as needed.
As a childcare worker with special competence in GSD, you are responsible for:
- carefully following the child's individual diet and meal plan
- ensuring regular meals and snacks according to schedule
- being attentive to signs of low blood sugar and acting according to established routines
- creating security around meal situations and preventing stress related to food
- adapting daily activities based on the child's medical needs
- documenting and communicating deviations according to preschool routines.
The work is carried out in close collaboration with the preschool's team, principal, guardians, and, if necessary, health care, such as dietitians, pediatricians, and habilitation.
Even though your primary task is to support an individual child, you are also expected to be a present and active adult in the entire child group. In the role, you work closely with other staff and contribute observations and reflections in the joint work around the child's and group's needs.
In this position, you will have significant responsibility and are encouraged to take personal responsibility for your work and come up with your own ideas within the framework of your assignment. Something we believe you, as an applicant, will find both meaningful and exciting!
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who:
- has a childcare worker education
- has documented experience working with children with dietary diagnoses/eating disorders
- has knowledge of or experience with GSD
- has a good understanding of medical routines related to diet and meals, is meticulous, responsible, and confident in following routines
- has experience collaborating with external actors such as habilitation and healthcare
- is accustomed to collaborating with guardians
- has very good Swedish both in speech and writing.
It is important that you, as an educator, are present and active. You show joy, curiosity, and engagement in the children's exploration. We will help the children succeed throughout the day, and we adults always take responsibility for situations that arise. In meetings with guardians, you have good communication and act professionally and service-oriented. As a childcare worker with us, you act in accordance with the curriculum, set goals, policies, and guidelines.
As a person, you are calm, secure, and attentive to the needs of others. Since you will be in contact with many, we see that you enjoy collaborating with other people, both children and guardians, as well as colleagues. As a childcare worker for children with special needs, you have a crucial responsibility for the child's health and well-being. You will handle important medication and must be able to act quickly in case of changes. The role requires high accuracy, a strong sense of responsibility, and a strong commitment to the child's well-being. You have the ability to create and maintain good and trusting relationships with guardians.
Furthermore, we also see that you, as an applicant, have a good ability to take responsibility and initiative, both for your own tasks and for the group's common goals, and can see what needs to be done - even if it is outside your own area of responsibility. The greatest emphasis will be placed on your personal suitability for the position.
